Project Summary

The Sovereign Nature Initiative (SNI), launched in 2021 to explore the intersection of blockchain technology and environmental conservation, employs a Decentralized Ecological Economics Protocol (DEEP) to convert ecological data into digital assets for gaming.

This initiative aims to channel attention and resources to environmental conservation by channeling them from the gaming and art world, through their infrastructure, via NFT collections and other digital methods. So far, they managed to raise in these ways hundreds of thousands of dollars for wildlife conservation projects, fostering a distributed global community around their DEEP protocol.

Why is it on CER?

The Sovereign Nature is on CER because it combines so many interesting elements and values.

First of all, we think it’s important to promote the rights and agencies of non-human life forms and SNI is an interesting intentional step in this sense. From a market perspective it’s an interesting post-capitalist economics plan to leverage one of the most profitable sectors in the world, gaming, to channel resources into ecological regeneration, especially if they will be able to leave to local stakeholders the lionshare of the value generated in the process and to keep their economic agency autonomous from these external flows.

The positive feedback loop they are establishing, in which more funds for conservation generate better data for the protocol, is not only economically interesting, but it also generates all kinds of arts and entertainment in the process; showcasing a significant comprehensive strategy to activating people of all cultures worldwide in ecological awareness and action.
